7VEN YEARS, 7VEN LESSONS

1:05 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

#1. My first lesson was that there will be challenges. I remember reading (Numbers 13), God knew there were giants in the land before he led the people of Israel out of Egypt. God had given them the land, therefore their victory was sure. The Lord has given you your spouse, who is your promised land, indeed there will be giants but will you be like Caleb and Joshua? Who despite the giants knew they would conquer. Their confessions were different and they took possession of the land.

#2. Marriage is meant to change you, to make you better. I am a strong believer of the fact that God is in the business of reconciling his children back to him. After Salvation, I believe that marriage is His reconciliation tool. It will teach you to love, to sacrifice, to serve, to forgive and to keep doing it consistently over and over again. Tell me how you will not become like Jesus.

#3. When you pray for new wine, remember to pray for new wine skin too. We all want newness in our marriages but no one wants to go through the process of change.
(Mark 2:22;)
"And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins".

#4. The anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. (James 1:20). Note, no matter how justified you are to be angry, it does not work the righteousness of God. Anger is a spirit, it doesn’t work in line with righteousness.

#5. Never underestimate the power of a third party- good or bad. Subject every voice to the influence of the word of God and let the strongest influence be the voice of the Holy Spirit.

#6. Learn to balance friendship with your spouse with respect and honor. I guess what I am trying to say is knowing when to wear different hats, knowing when to address him as his wife and when to address him as his best friend. I will play, joke and gist but I also accord him with great respect and honor.

#7. It’s ok to build boundaries, they are not walls. The boundaries you set applies to you too, so do not violate the boundaries you have set if you don’t want others to do the same.

QUIVER SEASONS

8:27 AM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

Isaiah 49: 1-7
“Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name. 2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver. 3 He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.”4 But I said, “I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing at all. Yet what is due me is in the Lord’s hand, and my reward is with my God.” 5 And now the Lord says— he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength— 6 he says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” 7 This is what the Lord says— the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel— to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers: “Kings will see you and stand up, princes will see and bow down, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.””
‭‭

There is an American movie I once watched of a warrior whose entire family was killed while he was away. On his return he saw all that was left, the entire community in ruins, then he saw his son’s favorite toy, he took it, melted it and molded it into an arrow and kept it in his quiver. He fought so many and killed the bad guys but kept this one arrow for one particular reason, to kill the exact same person that killed his family.

The writer in the above passage was expressing his discontentment and dissatisfaction to God in verse 1-2 “ you called me from my mother’s womb Lord, you made my mouth like a sharpened sword, YET! You hid me in the shadows of your hands” “ you made me, molded me and polished me like a arrow, YET!! You have concealed me in your quiver”
“ I have labored and worked hard YET! No promotion” “I have this burning desire within me YET! There is still no release”
You know that situation that seems like it’s taking too long to manifest after all the prayers and hard work.

Look at verse 3,The Lord kept encouraging him as I feel in my spirit He is doing for someone today. Hallelujah! Replace Israel with your name and confess it “And He said to me, You are my servant Todun, in whom I will display my splendor” Hallelujah!

Look at verse 5, The Lord spoke stating the exact purpose this servant was created. But by the time The Lord was speaking in verse 6, The Lord said “it is too small...”
Let a someone reading this shout “it is too small!”
This should get you praising God!
That thing you are thinking is too small compared to the great plans God has in store!
Verse 7; Because your Lord and Redeemer says “Kings will see you and stand up, princes will see and bow down because The Lord who has chosen you is faithful”!

Somebody Shout Hallelujah!!

WAITING FOR BOAZ

1:08 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

The story of Ruth is a beautiful story of restoration and recovery from all that was lost. Boaz was a symbol of hope and a new story. A journey from bitterness to renewal; Ruth had lost her husband and she had no children, her mother in law, Naomi had nothing left but to go back to Bethlehem and Ruth decided to go with her. On entering Bethlehem, Naomi asked to be called Mara which means bitter, but that didn't last because God changed her story.

Have you ever been in situations where life experiences have left you bitter, bitter at the decisions you have made, bitter at those around you... loss of a loved one, loss of a job, delayed expectations, shattered dreams...

Trust your convictions; Even though Ruth was widowed, there was one thing she was sure of, not going back to her people, she was from Moab, but she was sure about following her mother in law to Bethlehem. Even when Naomi presented strong facts of little or no hope, Ruth stood by her decision. And God honored her with the love of Boaz, a spring of hope in what seemed like a hopeless situation. What is that thing you are sure of inside of you? what is that conviction you have? Have you prayed about it?

Obedience; Then you have to take time and be careful to obey every instruction that God gives you. Except for when Ruth refused to go back to her people in Moab, Ruth obeyed her mother in law. every instruction and advice was followed by an act of obedience.

Service; Serve God, Ruth served Naomi... it was while she served that she met Boaz, while she was working to get food for herself and Naomi. Ruth was out there, working and serving, if she had stayed home, she might not have met Boaz.

Relationship with God; A relationship with God is the most important of all, because the will enable you to trust your convictions, walk in obedience and serve God and others despite all the heartbreak and disappointments. God enables, He give power to the weak and strength to weary.

The truth is God had already prepared Boaz for Ruth, there was already an answer to prayers waiting for them in Bethlehem. Ruth needed a husband and Naomi needed hope for her old age, and God had made a provision for Ruth and Naomi's heart desires to be met.

When God meets you at that point of need, He is not only changing your story but also the stories of those around you.

IN HIS IMAGE

12:48 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

What comes to your mind when you are told "you are created in God's image"? or when you read Genesis 1:26-27:

"Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth."
27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them."

Just as the above passage reads, being created in the image of God, does not necessary mean physical attributes or physical form but a spiritual personality, a spiritual likeness and form

  • Physical Expression

The Godhead is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so also man is made up of Spirit, Body and Soul in the likeness of the Godhead! How amazing is this! Even though these three are different, yet they are one and the same. This will help us understand Trinity.

Even though the body, spirit and soul are different, they are one and the same person.  Jesus was the physical expression of the Godhead, God in the flesh destined to carry out  the divine purpose here on earth.

Colossians 2:9

"For in Him all the fullness of Deity (the Godhead) dwells in bodily form [completely expressing the divine essence of God]."

Therefore, just like Jesus, you have been created to carry out a divine purpose on earth giving full expression to the divine on your inside.

  • Spirit Beings

John 4:24:

"God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

In other words, if we are created in the image of God, we are spirit beings, alive to carry out the mandate of God in the physical. Therefore, we live from the inside out, just like Jesus did.
Look at John 5:19:
19 So Jesus answered them by saying, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself [of His own accord], unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever things the Father does, the Son [in His turn] also does in the same way."

I pray that this understanding of the image of God in which you were created, not necessarily in physical form but a spiritual personality, shed light to who you really are in Him, that you may live to carry out His mandate in the physical. Amen.

A BETTER YOU AND ME

2:00 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 1 Comments

“This is who I am…”

“This was me before I got married…”

“You knew me before we got married, so why should I change?”

"Just accept me for who i am.."

Even though we are not saddled with the responsibility of changing our spouses, only God can do that, it is important to understand that "marriage is meant to change you!"Yes! to make you more like Christ! A better husband, a better wife, a better friend, a better parent, a better You!
Both parties, working together to be a better form of themselves under God's guidance should be one of the founding blocks of a Christ centered home.

Salvation brings you to Christ and Marriage is one of God's reconciliation tool, to ensure you act, behave and think Christ like. Truth is if you are the same person as you were when you first got married, then you are not growing and growth requires effort and the willingness to grow. No one wants to be stagnant on a job, we want promotion and increase, so we work harder, we take certifications and professional exams. The same effort and willingness is required for marriage too.

Most of the time, we think we know who we are before marriage... maybe not well enough..
Marriage revealed myself to me, who I really was, my strengths, weaknesses and oh my vulnerabilities! Am still unveiling myself, and the more I discover myself, the more I have to learn and unlearn a lot of things. It is not about "me" anymore but also about my husband, children, family, community, and generations to come.

I have been able to overcome the fear of not being myself in marriage, because i am constantly growing and learning for this reason, I make better choices and i am willing to be a better person.

I hope you are too?

So, I am still myself, but I am a better me.

THE WISDOM OF NO

8:53 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 1 Comments

I recently took time to evaluate myself in the light of the story of the ten virgins in Matthew 25:1-10

“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.

My evaluation question was " would you be one of the 5 foolish virgins or the 5 wise virgins?" and to sincerely answer this question, i needed to understand what made some virgins foolish and what made the others wise.

  • The first is the oil; it wasn't that the foolish virgins didn't carry any extra oil, but that they didn't carry any oil at all. They actually took their lamps and they took no oil with them. At this point i told myself, "well, i think i have some sense to take some oil with me. Its just like driving a car with no fuel in it, to take the car out, i have to ensure there is fuel in it". Check!✅
  • The second is the "No"; the wise knew that their oil will not be enough if they shared it and they were polite enough to suggest that the foolish virgins should go and buy for themselves.

It was at this point i knew i would have failed the second test. I know i would have shared my oil, the virgins were all together, watching and waiting for the bridegroom till they fell asleep, at this point am sure some bonding would have taken place, some new friendships, some shared experiences... Oh, i would have shared some of my oil.

Lesson:  The truth here is that the wisdom is not only in having the oil, but also in saying "No" to the request of the 5 foolish virgins. If the 5 wise virgins had shared their oil, they would have ended up becoming foolish because the oil would not be enough and they would have also gone out to get more. At that point, the question will not be about whether they previously had oil or not, but that they were not ready when the bridegroom came.

There is a time for everything, a time to say "no" and a time to say "yes", having an understanding of that time is wisdom.

GODLY SEEDS

8:45 AM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

We have looked forward to this day for a while. My son will always say "mummy am so excited for camp" and I tell him "I know, you have said it like a hundred times". The Christian kids camp is for kids ages 5 and up and Jomi just became eligible to attend this year.
I cried, oh I cried, not at the fact that I was dropping my son at the Christian kids camp for the first time,  not at the realization that he was growing so fast and he will be in camp for a week... well maybe that...

But as these children were coming into the camp, trying to find their groups and parents were ensuring that their children were settled in, I saw the hunger and the eagerness to receive from God and it dawned on me...Godly parenting is an action word!
You have to be deliberate in teaching them God's word, in their daily confessions, in shaping them into women and men after God's heart. It is not enough to just pray for them, you must be active in their spiritual growth.

We all want our children to be physically healthy, well much more attention should be paid to their spiritual health. ‭‭
Malachi‬ ‭2:15a ‭NIV "Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring.”
‬‬God seeks Godly offspring, be deliberate about you and your children's spiritual growth, the enemy is on the prowl, if he doesn't get you, he will want to come for your offspring.
 Look at Revelations 12:17NIV
Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.”
‭‭As our children are on long vacation and summer breaks make this your call and responsibility, plant those seeds, be deliberate and hand them over fully to God and He will take care of the rest.

"Come up hither"

12:18 AM MyWalkDownTheAisle 1 Comments

"Come up hither"

It was another mother's day celebration and my husband and kids had plans for me, well most of the plans was for them but i appreciate the thought and the opportunity to spend time with them.

One of the plans for the day was to go for thrill rides, well this was more for my first son and it was a lot of fun and laughter. When it was time to go on the roller coaster, i sat in with my 5 year old and i was screaming and laughing just having fun as i watched him laugh at me. Then he said "mum, you shouldn't be scared of heights, don't you just like the view from the top?"

My ears and heart heard something deeper than what he meant, so i looked down and i saw a beautiful view that i did not see when i was on the ground, most of all, i saw farther...

Then i heard in my heart "the higher you go the farther you see.."

Sometimes, the problems and circumstances we face seem overwhelming because we are looking at them from the ground and it looks insurmountable. Maybe it is time to come up hither, come up in fellowship, come up in relationship with God and watch as that mountain become a molehill.

Sometimes, we are confused, things appear blurred and we just don't know what step to take or what to do, maybe its time to come up hither, step up in relationship with God and watch Him bring clarity, clearing away every obstacle and ordering your steps in His will.
God's word to me, i leave also with you "Come up hither".

Come up hither, the view is beautiful from the top.

TEMPTED IN EVERY WAY

3:01 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

Is it not exciting to know that there is nothing we go through that God doesn't know about?
The bible summarizes everything in this world into 3 major categories  :

  • The lust of the flesh
  • The lust of the eyes
  • The pride of life
1 John 2:16-17 says "For everything in the world- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life- is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away and the lust of it, but whoever does the will of God lives forever."
Every temptation and sin in this world can be categorized into either one of these categories, adultery, hatred, jealousy, envy, rage and anger, selfishness etc.. just name it.

Did you see the word "everything" in verse 16? The temptation of Jesus in Mathew 4:1-11 was very strategic, the devil tempted Jesus with everything in the world. It is important to note at this point that, the fact that you are fasting and waiting on God does not immune you to the devil's temptations.
The first temptation,(lust of the flesh) the devil said "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Matt 4:3.

The second temptation, (pride of life) the devil said "If you are the son of God, throw yourself down for it is written He will command his angels concerning you and they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone." Matt 4:6
The third temptation, (lust of the eyes) "And the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor, all this i will give you if you bow down and worship me." Matt 4:8-9

How did Jesus overcome this? He overcame by the Word, truth is the devil has become more subtle, we should be alert in Spirit and grounded in his Word.

HEAVENLY PLACES

7:01 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

I have just finished a bible study with the women's group from my church, we studied the book 'Armor of God ' by Priscilia Shirer. It was an interesting study and i had so many things to learn. An important lesson i learned from the bible study is about heavenly places which i am going to be sharing. I found this particular revelation very liberating for me and i pray it will be liberating for you as well.

For me, there is something intimidating when the bible verse Ephesians 6:12 is quoted
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Scary right? look at all the forces of darkness in one sentence :) I know the next thing people say is "God is one your side" "God is fighting your battles"... But there is an understanding that you need to have, You need to have an understanding of where you stand.

In Paul's letter to the Ephesians, he didn't just unleash the reality of the forces of darkness on them in the last chapter of the book of Ephesians, that is like on the final notes of his letters to the Ephesians. The truth is he had prepped them up so much in the earlier chapters such that when they got to chapter 6, they didn't need to be scared or intimidated, but aware of what they were up against.
Now lets take a look at Ephesians 1:3
"Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ"
From the beginning of his letter, Paul gave thanks to God for the spiritual blessings we have in the heavenly realms. This verse indicates that we have every spiritual blessing in Christ in that realm.

To further understand this, lets look at Ephesians 1:20
"That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms FAR ABOVE all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come"
Believe me, there are levels in the heavenly realms! like really! :) Yes agreed that there are forces, powers and dominions, but look at this verse 20 again, Christ was raised and He is seated FAR ABOVE them all! Hallelujah! You should scream! literally :) Now, the coolest part is that its not only the powers of darkness of this present age, but even the ones to come, the ones that does not exist yet. wow!! amazing! Now tell me there are no levels in the heavenly realms. This understanding in itself is liberating, that you have a God who is seated far above! He is on the highest level and no one can beat that!

Now the question is where am i in all of this? Just look at Ephesians 2:6
"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus"

Did you read that well? You are seated with Christ in heavenly places FAR ABOVE!! Praise God!! That is where you are, with Christ above every powers and principalities, above sickness and death, above every manipulations of the evil one. How liberating is that? Now you can go back and read Ephesians 6:12 again and this understanding will help you put on that full armor of God in Ephesians 6:13-18.

A LAMP AND LIGHT

1:23 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

As a parent, there have been times i have had to command my children to do something, sometimes they ask me "Mummy why?" and my response sometimes is "Because mummy said so!" :) And there have been times i had to stop everything am doing and seize an opportunity to teach them an important life lesson. In other words, there are command moments and there are teaching moments, this is the same with the word of God, there are instructional commands and there are in-depth teachings.

God's commandments restrict and guard and His teaching enlightens. The bible says in
Psalm 119 vs 105: "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path".
God's word contains His commands and teachings, His command is the lamp bound to our feet to guard us from going astray while His teaching sheds light to our path. God's Word,(His commands and teachings) will lead us on the right path.
His commands restricts, His teaching enlightens.

Proverbs 6 vs 20-23: "My son, keep your father's command and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
Bind them always on your neck, when you walk, they will guide you, when you sleep, they will watch over you, when you wake, they will speak to you. For this command is a lamp and this teaching is a light."

The word of God lights our path and directs us on where to go. Are you confused about a situation? Do you need direction about a matter? Pay close attention to God's word; His commands and teachings and you will see your path light up.

For His Name's Sake

2:47 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 0 Comments

Take a moment and think of all the popular names you know.....
Now think of the name Jesus!

Do you know that God can choose to act or not act for His name's sake? God honors His name that much. For instance, 1 Samuel 12:22: "For the sake of his great name, the Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own"
For His name's sake God spared His people, the psalmist understood this principle when he said in Psalm 23:3 "He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake"
Psalm 25:11: "For the sake of your name, Lord, forgive my iniquities though it is great"
Psalm 106:8: "Yet he saved them for His name's sake, to make his mighty power known"
Isaiah 48:9: "For my own name's sake I delay my wrath, for the sake of my praise, i hold it back                          from you, so as not to destroy you completely"
1 John 2:12: "I am writing to you dear children because your sins have been forgiven on account                         of his name".

We should be able to trust in the name of Jesus and also trust in the fact that God honors His name, the beautiful thing is that His name answers to different situations and circumstances.
Jehovah Jireh- God our provider
Jehovah Rapha- God our healer
Jehovah Shalom- God our peace
Jehovah Nissi- God our banner
Jehovah Raah- God our shepherd
God will honor His name in our lives and in whatever situation, FOR HIS NAME'S SAKE.

Yours in the walk...
