THE HYMN OF A GOOD WIFE

A good woman is hard to find and worth far more than diamonds.

Her husband trusts her without reserve and never has a reason to regret it.

Never spiteful, she treats him generously all her life long.

She shops around for the best yarns and cottons and enjoys knitting and sewing.

She is like a trading ship that sails to faraway places and brings back exotic surprises.

She is up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with the money she saves, she plants a garden.

First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She senses the worth of her work and is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.

She’s skilled in the craft of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking.

She is quick to assist anyone in need, reaches out to help the poor.

She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.

She makes her own clothes and dresses in colorful linens and silks.

Her husband is greatly respected when he deliberates with the city fathers.

She designs gowns and sells them, brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops. Her clothes are well made and elegant, and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.

When she speaks, she has something worthwhile to say and she always says it kindly.

She keeps an eye on everyone in the household and keeps them all busy and productive.

Her children respects and bless her; her husband joins in the words of praise: “Many women have done wonderful things, but you have outclassed them all”.

Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades, the woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear of God.

Give her everything she deserves…

A Wall or A Door.

The Shulamite’s Brothers:
“We have a little sister, and her breasts are not yet grown,
What shall we do for our sister on the day she is spoken for?
If she is a wall, we will build upon her a battlement of silver
If she is a door, we will enclose her with boards of cedar”
The Shulamite:
“I am a wall and my breast are like towers,
then I became in his eyes, as one bringing contentment”
                                                      (Songs of Songs 8v8-10)
A door, anyone can come in and go out,
A wall, so sealed :)
A door can be kicked down,
A wall is strong and powerful
A wall versus a door,
Battlement of silver versus boards of cedar
A wall is more valuable than a door.
If a wall, great!
If a door, keep the doors locked and keep the keys for the right person to open.
Either a door or a wall,
Be strong and keep yourself.
                                                                                Yours in the walk.

SUBMISSION… EMPOWERMENT

6:06 PM MyWalkDownTheAisle 1 Comments

We all have different understanding of submission, men have a different understanding, women also have a different idea of the concept of submission.

Submission is a very powerful word, the dictionary meaning is “to subject oneself under the authority of another”. But come to think of it, the bible tells the wife to be submissive just like the church submits to Christ, who is the head of the church (Ephesians 5v24). The bible relates the concept of submission between a man and his wife to the concept of submission between God and his church.  God has empowered the church with so many gifts to be able to carry out his will on earth (1 Corinthians 12v7-11). God needs the church to use these gifts in accordance to his will, as a result, the church has to be submissive to the will of God. God has empowered the church, in the same way, God empowered the woman so much, but he needs the wife to use her gifts in reverence to her husband.

Women, should use their gifts to help their husbands carry out the will of God for their lives and their families. These gifts should be used to build up our husbands and not pull them down, this is submission. Proverbs 31v 12 says, “She does him good and not evil all the days of her life”.

Submission is not slavery, it is not an oppressive force that hangs over marriage. Submission is power, it operates on pure faith that can help the husband grow spiritually and empowers the wife to be all that God wants her to be. It is recognizing the extent at which we are gifted as women and using those gifts to lift our men up. Is it the ideas, prayers, multitasking abilities, patience, loving, consoling, encouragement, finance and home management etc. Using all this gifts humbly to help your husband carry out the will of God is submission. To be submissive, a woman has to recognize and know her worth as a daughter of Zion and use that to fulfill the will of God for her marriage. Men also have to recognize these gifts in their wives and allow their helpmeet to be all that God wants her to be.
