FRIENDSHIPS- LESSONS FROM THE BOOK OF JOB (1)

The story of Job is one of the popular stories in the bible, his challenges, his response and his comeback especially since God restored him and blessed him even much more than he was before he had his challenges. Most studies have focused on Job himself, but the book of Job also talks about his friends and the role they play in the life of Job especially during his challenges. I have been studying the book of Job to learn about friendship relationships most especially on how to handle friendships during challenging times and also how to be a good friend during challenging seasons. We all go through difficult times and during this period, we pray and talk to our friends especially the close friends, so how do we respond to our close friends in difficult situations and how do we receive love and advice from friends in difficult situations? This month, I will be sharing some of the lessons God is teaching me as regards this topic and I pray that it ministers and helps someone that n...

FLIGHT 101!

As the plane finally settled in the clouds I had a little flashback to my college years, I can’t remember what year in particular, but I was having some challenges with one of my law classes and I asked a classmate to help me out and he offered to study with me, so we decided to meet at the library later that evening. His name is Wole Kunuji, actually, I am disclosing his name just in case he stumbles on this write up (Thank you Wole!). As we studied, he told me and I remember clearly “Todun, wave your hands downwards”, I did, and he said “did you hit anything?” and I remember saying “Yes! My legs, the table…” then he told me “Todun wave those hands upwards”, I did, “did you hit anything?” I said “No” and he told me clearly “Todun, it is crowded down there, there is enough space for everyone up there!”. I never forgot those words. As I sat by the window in this plane, I looked down as everything I was familiar with became small, the houses, the trees, the hills and the mounta...

YOU CARRY GOD

With Mother's Day in view, i find myself thinking of the Christmas Song "Mary did you know". It's a song with questions that set me to think....Here is the lyric: Mary did you know that your baby boy will one walk on water? Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters? Did you know that  your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you delivered, will soon deliver you! Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to the blind man? Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm the storm with his hands? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? When you kissed your little baby, you kissed the face of God! Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary did you that your baby boy would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb? This sleeping child you are holding is the great I am! Am sure Mary knew the child was special consid...

THE TWO KINDS OF WISDOM

As we wrap up the month of May, i will like to share about a reflective passage in James 3 Vs 13-18 . And i will break it down as simply as it spoke to me. HEAVENLY WISDOM EARTHLY WISDOM        Deeds done in humility that comes from       wisdom. Vs 13 Wisdom from heaven is first of all pure. Vs 17   Peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruits. Impartial and sincere. Vs 17         Harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition. Vs 14 Earthly, un-spiritual and demonic. Vs 15   For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. Vs 16 Matthew 11 Vs 19b : "Wisdom is proved right by her deeds" Yours in the walk...

PERFECTED IN HIS LOVE

This lesson came together in bits for me, a little study here and there over the months until i finally got the message God was trying to tell me. It all came together and now am gradually taking it all in. I have had this fear in my Christian walk that overcoming a difficult situation helps deepen your faith in God, but it also prepares you for greater challenges, (my fear is in the greater challenges). So while i am grateful to God for helping me through a difficult situation, am always careful to learn from the experiences in preparation for what might be ahead. (am not sure i do a good job at that, because i have to learn and relearn again sometimes).  I remember talking to a friend about it, who told me that it means "my love for God is not perfected, because perfect love casts out fear". I remember thinking "really? what verse of the bible is that again?" and this led to my study and discovery. I am going to share this understanding in the sequel it w...

"HE HEARS..."

I have had my share of struggles especially in my faith walk. There has been times i felt like God was not listening to me or maybe he has forgotten me. And its so amazing how God uses situation and circumstances to speak to us. Isaiah 49 v 14: "But Zion said the Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me" . Remember Zion is the place of the Lord's dwelling, (Psalm 9 v 11: "Sing praises to the Lord who dwells in Zion" , Psalm 132 v 13: "For the Lord has chosen Zion, he desired it for his habitation" ) so i try to imagine the situation in Isaiah 49 v 14, a situation that seems like The Lord had forsaken Zion. And yes, i identify with this passage a lot, as i have asked the same questions and felt the same way. So here i was after a long day's work, so tired and in need of a good night rest. In the middle of a good deep sleep, i heard my son in another room call me in the middle of the the night and i remember waking up to the sound of a...
