THE TWO KINDS OF WISDOM

As we wrap up the month of May, i will like to share about a reflective passage in James 3 Vs 13-18. And i will break it down as simply as it spoke to me.

HEAVENLY WISDOM
EARTHLY WISDOM
      
  • Deeds done in humility that comes from       wisdom. Vs 13
  • Wisdom from heaven is first of all pure. Vs 17
  •  Peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruits.
  • Impartial and sincere. Vs 17
      
  • Harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition. Vs 14
  • Earthly, un-spiritual and demonic. Vs 15
  •  For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. Vs 16

Matthew 11 Vs 19b: "Wisdom is proved right by her deeds"

OVERSHADOW

The word overshadow means to tower above or to cast a shadow over .  Its Christmas and it is important to take another look at the Christmas story. I have read this story in the bible so many times, but this year something struck me and that is the word "overshadow". Luke 1:26-38 is an account of Mary's encounter with an angel who told her she would conceive and bear a son, whose name shall be called Jesus and he will be great and will be called Son of The Most High. Mary then asked the question how all this events will take place because she was a virgin and the angel explained in  Luke 1: 35: "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of The Most High will  overshadow  you. HEAVENLY PLACES

I have just finished a bible study with the women's group from my church, we studied the book 'Armor of God ' by Priscilia Shirer. It was an interesting study and i had so many things to learn. An important lesson i learned from the bible study is about heavenly places which i am going to be sharing. I found this particular revelation very liberating for me and i pray it will be liberating for you as well. For me, there is something intimidating when the bible verse  Ephesians 6:12  is quoted  "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Scary right? look at all the forces of darkness in one sentence :) I know the next thing people say is "God is one your side" "God is fighting your battles"... But there is an understanding that you need to have, You need to have an understanding...

The Prodigals

I’m sure we’ve heard about one of the popular stories of the Bible- The Prodigal Son. When that story is read or told, there is the tendency to see just the prodigal son; The one who demanded his inheritance prematurely, squandered it all in wild living, and came crawling back in shame. And the part that moves us most is his gracious welcome : a father running toward him, arms wide open, heart already forgiven.. Luke 15:11-32 A few years ago, I heard a new perspective—one that reframed the parable in a powerful way. It was about the Prodigal Father .
