Put on The Whole Armor

Ephesians 6:11-18 "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints"

Take a minute to imagine a warrior going to war without his sword, weird right? or going to war without a shield? how would that warrior protect him or herself? or a warrior going to battle with just the helmet of salvation and saying "but I'm saved" What?!

I have read this passage over and over again, but recently I was enlightened to the understanding that it is not enough to know the whole armor scripture but to ensure you are wearing the whole armor of God. Little wonder why the first verse of Ephesians 6 emphasized that! "Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

You can't afford to put on the helmet of salvation and you are girded with the belt of lies or you are holding the shield of faith and your feet is shod with war. Or let's say you even have almost all the armor but your sword is the opinion of men and not the word of God... How do you want to win battles this way or stand against the wiles of the enemy?

When we find ourselves in difficult situations and it looks like the enemy seems to have a upper hand, maybe it's time to go take a step back and ensure you are wearing all the right armor...

Check that sword, is it the opinion of men or the word of God? Check your feet, don't be overcome with anger. Yes you were hurt but choose the path of peace. Check your helmet, is it truly the helmet of salvation? are you truly saved? are your actions reflective of God's saving grace? Check that shield, is it the shield of faith grounded in the word of God or it's just head knowledge?

Maybe it's time to retreat and take a good stock of your Armor, especially over that situation. Ask God to open your eyes to see what you are doing wrong and where you are wearing the wrong armor. God will show you.

Or maybe you are wearing another person's armor? "It worked for this person, it should work for me too" Remember David had to put off Saul's armor to kill Goliath...

Remember to stand against the wiles of the enemy, you have to put on the whole armor of God. You can't win a battle with a half armor. Its a complete package!

Yours in the walk....

OVERSHADOW

The word overshadow means to tower above or to cast a shadow over .  Its Christmas and it is important to take another look at the Christmas story. I have read this story in the bible so many times, but this year something struck me and that is the word "overshadow". Luke 1:26-38 is an account of Mary's encounter with an angel who told her she would conceive and bear a son, whose name shall be called Jesus and he will be great and will be called Son of The Most High. Mary then asked the question how all this events will take place because she was a virgin and the angel explained in  Luke 1: 35: "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of The Most High will  overshadow  you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God" Now here is my understanding, when there is a purpose to be birth, when God is set to carry out an assignment through one of his own, to carry out HIS assignment and purpose which supersedes every human com...

HEAVENLY PLACES

I have just finished a bible study with the women's group from my church, we studied the book 'Armor of God ' by Priscilia Shirer. It was an interesting study and i had so many things to learn. An important lesson i learned from the bible study is about heavenly places which i am going to be sharing. I found this particular revelation very liberating for me and i pray it will be liberating for you as well. For me, there is something intimidating when the bible verse  Ephesians 6:12  is quoted  "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Scary right? look at all the forces of darkness in one sentence :) I know the next thing people say is "God is one your side" "God is fighting your battles"... But there is an understanding that you need to have, You need to have an understanding...

Sorrowful to Surrender

It's Easter and i was pondering on Jesus's days before crucifixion and after resurrection, the journey from his time in Gethsemane to Galilee was something, a lot happened in those few days before his death to days after resurrection. What is our response in times of difficulty, grief, pain and suffering?  One important lesson from this study is that God meets us in our difficult seasons.  Let's start with Jesus' experience, Jesus in a state of grief before his death, he knew what was to come and he was overwhelmed with so much sorrow. Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭37‬-‭38 ‬ ‭ “And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “ My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me. ” Imagine the soul being sorrowful even unto death, imagine the state of mind he was in? What was his response? He prayed! Not once, not twice but he went back 3 times praying until he returned fully surr...
